Trackers & Health

When you can’t find it,
what can you do?

The obvious value of a GPS collar is preventing loss. The second use gets overlooked: continuous activity data is one of the earliest observable signals of health change in older pets.

Buy it / skip it.

  • Buy if: it has bolted through the door before

That is the most honest reason. The collar earns its keep on the one day you need it.

  • Buy if: your dog is over 7

Decline in an older dog is gradual and invisible day to day. Continuous data reveals the trend.

  • Skip if: your cat stays indoors

Indoor cats face snagging risk with little benefit. A camera suits that need better.

Battery life is the real weakness here. The more often it locates, the faster it drains. A “7-day battery” claim is usually measured at a low update rate. Look for a stated figure for live-tracking mode — if you cannot find one, do not buy.
